Who we are!
Our team is central to our work to build a more person-led, human public service system which allows people to take back control of their lives and their futures. We have huge ambition, an impressive track record and we are widely admired as a genuinely radical force for change in a charity sector that too often talks about radical change but maintains the status quo. We recognise that to truly create a radical and impactful organisation we need a http://www.japanreplicawatch.com/ staff team that is representative of all of the communities we look to support. We are proud to have a diverse team with mixed skills and backgrounds and are committed to continuing to build on this.
CEO
Alex
I’m Alex. I enjoy climbing on the crags around Leeds, with my kids when they are up for it, fell running with my partner, and writing of all kinds.
I think that the UK’s charities and public services have one goal: to create ways for people who want support, and people who want to help, to meet as equals. What works best in support services usually feels small, human and personal. I’m fascinated by how to scale up those strengths-based ways of working to reach many more people, without accidentally rebuilding old institutions and (invisible) asylums.
My Mayday soundtrack song is I am Leaving by Blue Roses – it’s a lovely coming-of-age song, from one of those great lost albums that should have been huge but seemed to disappear.
Finance Manager
Alistair
Hi, I’m Alistair, I have been with Mayday Trust since 2019 and am the Finance Manager.
I like that at Mayday I can put my knowledge to use to ensure the fantastic work we do can continue.
HR/Office Manager
Aya
Hello, I am Aya. I am the HR/Office Manager for Mayday Trust.
I love to dance, cook and keep fit.
My Mayday song would be ‘I was here’ by Beyoncé. I love this song because our presence on earth is valuable and we should always keep striving to become the best versions of ourselves that we can be.
Director of Development, Income and Impact
Chandni
Hi! I’m Chandni.
When I’m not busy trying to butter up commissioners and infiltrate the Sunday Times Rich List, I enjoy watching true crime documentaries, working out (and persuading others to do so too) and spending time with my 7-year-old son, Kiyan, and 3-year-old daughter, Zuri.
My Mayday soundtrack song is Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’ because I don’t think anyone should ever feel like “a plastic bag drifting through the wind” and I’m a firm believer that “after every hurricane comes a rainbow” (… and also because fireworks are colourful and awesome!)
Membership Development Officer
George
Hi, I’m George. I love listening to music and going to gigs, as well as cold-swimming in the sea.
Developing Mayday’s membership offer, growing the network of organisations and services using the PTS Response and strengths-based work is challenging me to get radical and unleash my inner activism, which is why I love working at Mayday.
My Mayday song would be ‘I Believe In Miracles’ by Jackson Sisters’ – because this song always gives me a boost no matter what mood I’m in. It’s about believing in your dreams and making them come true. It’s also a love song but I think believing in miracles is what gives us hope to change the world.
Head of PTS Coaching
Jhoana
I’m Jhoana, I love music, especially drums and being in nature.
I am someone who has witnessed and experienced social injustices, which is what creates a fire in my belly to make a change and create space for people to explore their experiences. This is something that is embraced at Mayday, yay!
My Mayday song is Charity by Skunk Anansie
Fundraising Officer
Jude
Hello! I’m Jude, I love being outdoors and some of my favourite things to do are camping, snorkelling and hiking. I’m also learning Greek in my spare time (γεια σας!).
Working at Mayday means being part of something that is brave enough to break away from the conventional way of doing things. Working in fundraising allows us to develop these aspirational ideas and put change into practice.
My Mayday song is Bella Ciao as it is associated with resistance and revolution, something which I think fits Mayday quite well.
Learning Officer
Lilly
I’m Lilly. I’m good at cooking but better at eating! Sometimes I write poetry.
The best part of my job is those moments when people realise how amazing they are, that the potential and all the good stuff was in them all along.
My Mayday song is yellow days – gap in the clouds.
PTS Coach
Meg
Hi! I’m Meg – I like to keep fit, eat cake and spend time outside exploring.
I’ve always enjoyed listening to and learning from other people’s experiences; I love watching the individuals I coach make progress and being with them when they are buzzing from their victories. The relationship-building side of coaching is really important to me; I’m often inspired by the individuals I meet with and feel like I’ve grown as a person whilst working for Mayday. I feel so passionate about the PTS response; it’s what social care CAN look like and it’s amazing to see it working for so many. I often find myself raging at the ridiculousness of the current systems we have in place!
The song I chose is “Float on” by Modest Mouse. I love this song because it’s all about life going wrong, “I backed my car into a cop car the other day” with the underlying message that things don’t/ won’t always go wrong, “well he just drove off sometimes life’s okay”. I find this song can often help me calm my own thoughts when I find myself spiralling into “what if’s”. Also, it’s just an absolute tune!!
PTS Coach
Mel
Hi, I’m Mel. I love travelling and experiencing different cultures, I’ve ridden on a camel, floated on a salt lake and scuba dived in the red sea. I am a diehard Liverpool fan, up the reds!!!
Why Mayday: I have always been empathetic and am passionate about social justice and equity and Mayday allows me that platform to put that into practice.
My Mayday song is you’ll never walk Gerry & the pacemakers because it’s my teams anthem and a song of hope
Impact and Learning Officer
Shauna
Hey, I’m Shauna, I’m Mayday’s Impact and Learning Officer and a mean bread maker.
I love that empathy and sensitivity is part of my job. Having previously been a PTS Coach at Mayday, I feel lucky to have learned so much from the people I worked alongside and to watch their journeys develop.
My Mayday Song is ‘I wish I was a Punk Rocker’ by Sandi Thom because it makes me think how things could be different!
Head of Insight & Communications
Steph
Hey, I’m Steph. I love pretending to be sporty, trying new things and then moaning when I’m not instantly good at them.
I’m fascinated by language and a sucker for good marketing – seriously, if you put a used tissue in fancy packaging and described it as hand-picked and organic, I’d probably buy it!
Working at Mayday has opened my eyes to the injustice faced by people encountering the systems surrounding public services, the complexities of creating change and the importance of listening. However, it should come with a warning. Once you’re here it’s very hard to imagine doing anything else.
My Mayday song is Human by Rag ‘n’ Bone Man.
Marketing & Communications Officer
Tabitha
I’m Tabi! In my spare time, I go on long (and sometimes exhausting) walks with my golden retriever Paisley, write film reviews and play the bass. I’m overflowing with movie recommendations, and am known for giving my friends personalised lists of films I know they’d like.
I love working at Mayday because I love being able to use the skills and understanding I have of social media and the online world to make a real difference! It perfectly combines my passions for social media and social justice.
My Mayday song is ‘Treat People With Kindness’ by Harry Styles, because it’s nice to be nice!
Head of Growth and Impact
Trent
I’m Trent! I am an activist, educator, and researcher. I love finding creative ways to understand and increase impact, getting people from different ‘sectors’ to come together and find common purpose.
When I’m not working, I enjoy cooking, swimming, spending time with animals / in nature, and playing board games or escape rooms.
My Mayday soundtrack song is Listen from Dream Girls by Liisi Lafontaine and RILEY.
