Why a strengths-based response to homelessness?

Mayday has been pioneering a strengths-based approach to walking alongside those facing homelessness for over a decade.  Through years of deep listening, research and evaluation we have concluded that relationship is key to offering truly person-led and strengths-based support.  Through adapting coaching methods, often reserved for high-performing athletes, Mayday is transforming the shape of support for those transitioning through homelessness.

A PTS Response focuses on building a purposeful relationship with people experiencing a tough time that is based on trust and honesty. It is led by the person, at a time that works for them.

The evidence shows that this can enable people to:

  • Identify and work towards meaningful goals and changes
  • Connect or reconnect with others; explore & even build communities
  • Challenge what’s not working, and even help shape better systems
